Researchers at the IWK are launching a research project in collaboration with Réseau Santé – Nouvelle-Écosse to identify the service needs of Acadian and francophone families in Nova Scotia who are dealing with the challenges of autism. The study is aimed at French-speaking parents and guardians who have a child between 2 and 21 years old diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or for whom they are seeking a diagnostic assessment.
Families that meet the criteria can participate by completing an online survey, which can be accessed from Réseau Santé – Nouvelle-Écosse’s website at https://reseausantene.ca/autisme.php and from its Facebook page at facebook.com/reseausantenouvelleecosse.
“The information gathered from this research will help shape the development of services for Acadian and francophone families and children affected by autism spectrum disorder in Nova Scotia,” said Paul d’Entremont, president of Réseau Santé – Nouvelle-Écosse. “It is therefore essential to ensure good participation from families that reflect the diversity of the Acadian and francophone community.”
