Francophone postsecondary students in health sciences in Nova Scotia can now apply for three new $1,500 scholarships.
The scholarships available are as follows:
• One $1,500 scholarship for a student enrolled in a health sciences program at Université Sainte-Anne
• Two $1,500 scholarships for francophone students enrolled in health sciences programs in the province’s English-language educational institutions
Interested students can visit reseausantene.ca/scholarships to find out more about the terms and conditions and to apply. Applications must be received by February 28, 2022.
The scholarships are being offered by Réseau Santé – Nouvelle-Écosse with support from the Office of Acadian Affairs and Francophonie. This initiative seeks to support francophone students in health programs in their academic careers.
“We would like to reduce barriers for francophone students who wish to pursue a career in health care and encourage them to continue their studies,” said Blair Boudreau, president of Réseau Santé. “With an ageing population in Nova Scotia, it is vital that we secure the next generation of health care services in French in Nova Scotia.”
“I am proud to work in collaboration with Réseau Santé – Nouvelle-Écosse to make bursaries available to Francophone students enrolled in postsecondary health programs in Nova Scotia,” indicated Colton LeBlanc, Minister of Acadian Affairs and Francophonie. “These bursaries will help students develop the necessary skills to offer professional health services in French.”
Scholarship recipients will be announced in June 2022.
